Bill Condon writes a special note to Twihards

OK, so I love Bill Condon (Breaking Dawn director) now--almost as much as I love David Slade for Tweeting his way through Eclipse production. Maybe we can bully Bill into doing the same. In the note to Twihards that he posted on Twilight’s official Facebook page , he sounds genuinely dedicated and humbled to be directing the final chapter(s)--let's not kid ourselves here, there's going to be 2 parts--of our beloved saga. The fact that he took the time to write us a Don't worry, I get it and I'm on board to sparkle too note makes me confident that he'll do Isle Esme (with LOTS of feathers), Nessie and house breaking escapades justice.

Here's what he had to say:

Greetings Twihards, Twifans, Twilight Moms, Team Edward, Team Jacob and Team Switzerland,

I just want to say hello to all of you and let you know that I'm stoked to be getting underway on the adventure of making BREAKING DAWN. As you've probably heard, I've been given a very warm welcome by Stephenie and Team Summit - who are super-focused, as you know, on getting these movies right.

I'm pretty busy bringing myself up to speed on what you already know by heart: I've read BREAKING DAWN twice, rewatched Catherine's and Chris's movies 2-3 times each, have all four CDs playing in my car, and have Catherine's notebook, Mark Cotta Vaz's companion books, and even Volume 1 of the graphic novel here on my desk - a corner of my office is starting to look like Hot Topic. I realize that this barely qualifies me for "newborn" status in the universe you've been living inside for a few years now, but a guy's gotta start somewhere.

Like many of you, I've always been slightly obsessed with vampires, dating back to the prime-time series DARK SHADOWS, which I followed avidly as a kid. But that alone hadn't been enough to get me interested in making a vampire movie, even though my early screenwriting and directing efforts grew out of a great love for horror movies and thrillers. Since making GODS AND MONSTERS thirteen years ago, however, I've been yearning for a return to a story with Gothic overtones.

The wonderful world that Stephenie has created has obviously struck a chord with you, and I don't think it's difficult to see why. For me, her characters are simultaneously timeless, yet very modern. Rooted in a beautiful, real landscape with a great sense of place, Bella, Edward, Jacob, and the rest of the Forks/La Push menagerie, experience emotions that are primal, and universal: desire, despair, jealousy - and it all comes to fruition in BREAKING DAWN. This is a final chapter in the best sense; not just wide in scope and scale, but emotionally charged and intense throughout.

I'm a huge admirer of the already-iconic Kristen, Robert, and Taylor, and wanted to be the one to work with them as they face the challenges of bringing your beloved characters to the end of their journeys. Really, what could be more fun than that?

Please feel free to ask questions in the comments section below, and I'll do my best to answer them. I hope that this will be the first of many occasions I'll get to check in with you as we set to work bringing BREAKING DAWN to the screen. I am excited and grateful to have all of you alongside me for my TWILIGHT journey.

All best,

Bill Condon

P.S. Answer #1: No, there won't be any musical numbers

'Breaking Dawn' director announced!

Breaking Dawn director, Bill Condon

Drum roll please...We have our 4th and final TW-irector. It was confirmed via Variety today that Oscar award winning director of Dreamgirls, Kinsey and Gods and Monsters & Chicago (screenwriter) Bill Condon will usher us into the final chapter(s) of the Twilight Saga with Breaking Dawn. Still no official word as to whether or not BD will be 1 or 2 movies, but the Alice in me says 2.

Variety Article: Wed., Apr. 28, 2010

It's Official: Condon to helm 'Twilight'

'Dreamgirls' director set for 'Breaking Dawn' By DAVE MCNARY

Summit Entertainment has closed its deal with helmer Bill Condon to close out the "Twilight"  saga.

Condon had been in negotiations for several weeks to direct "Breaking Dawn" -- the final tome in author Stephenie Meyer's four-book vampire series. The deal was expected to close quickly, with no major sticking points between the two sides.

Summit made the official announcement Wednesday.

" I'm very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen," Condon said in a statement. "As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book - and we're hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience."

Condon's credits include writing and directing "Dreamgirls," "Kinsey" and "Gods and Monsters." He also penned the screenplay for "Chicago." He recently directed the pilot episode for the Showtime series "The Big C" and produced the 81st Annual Academy Awards telecast.

Summit has not yet announced if "Breaking Dawn," which marks the last chapter in the love story of bloodsucker Edward and mortal Bella, will be broken into two films although it's widely expected to do so.

Catherine Hardwicke helmed the first pic, while Chris Weitz directed the second, "New Moon." David Slade was behind the camera for the third, the upcoming "Eclipse," which opens June 30. Scribe Melissa Rosenberg has adapted each installment and is currently working on the fourth pic. Summit said Wednesday that stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner will return and that Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt, and Stephenie Meyer will produce.

Did anyone else notice that he called BD the "climax of the saga"? Isle Esme here we come!

And the best for last: Bella's engagement ring AND the bracelet Jacob gave her. No Team Switzerlander should be without both.

Kristen says it was "strange" kissing Taylor--or Jacob- 'Eclipse' preview from EW

EW 's annual summer movie preview is on newsstands and so is another steamy Bedward (Bella/Edward) photo. It's a little hard to read, so here's the fun Kristen quote about kissing Taylor--I mean Jacob.

For Kristen Stewart, who reprises her role as Bella in Twilight: Eclipse, locking lips with costar Taylor Lautner (who plays her pal Jacob) felt odd—not just because she thinks of Lautner as a kid brother, but because Bella’s heart truly belongs to vampire hottie Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). “It felt really weird kissing someone else as Bella,” says Stewart. “I was like, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ It was a really strange experience—as it should have been.”

Aw, she's Team Edward...or when she's Bella she is...?

Just 69 days left!!!

I hugged Shannon Leto last nite!!! 30STM concert in Detroit

EDIT: This lovely people over at Jared-Leto.net referenced this post and used my Youtube vids in the Detroit THIS IS WAR post on their site. If you're a Jared (or 30STM) addict you need to check out this site!

Last night was 30 Seconds to Mars' THIS IS WAR concert at the Fillmore in Detroit. (Yup, that's me on the CD cover with the boys' signatures all over my face.) Mute Math was a no show (the "Spotlight" was not on), but as soon as Neon Trees’ leader singer, Tyler Glenn, took the stage with a strut and an androgynous thrust of the hips in a hot pink (or was it pomegranate, Jared?) suit and bow tie, I knew I was going to love them for much more than their catchy song Animal . By the time their set was over, the crowd was ready for WAR!

This was my fourth time seeing Jared, Tomo & Shannon rock out, but it's always like the first time--except now I know how to function during the infamous Leto dazzle stare down. I actually got out full sentences during the meet & greet! which led to a "free hug" from Shannon--OK, maybe it was free for me, but I'm pretty sure he paid for it. When I leaned in, he mumbled "And you snuck one in." meaning: I never said you could touch me. Damn you Twitter followers!

PS The man was hard as a rock! We're talking Cullen marble physique. That paired with the dazzling gaze only further verifies my inhuman man gods theory for the Leto family. The upside to physically assaulting Shannon was that I earned a laugh from Tomo and gained the confidence to tell Jared "I love the 'pomegranate' 'hawk." I pointed all emphatically to his coif, and he said "thank you" in that whispery coo of his and told me he liked my shirt (again). Little mad at myself though because I forgot to point out that we had the same blue colored nails. They matched his eyes!

As usual, we were herded through the line way to fast, but it was doubly glorious because I wasn't the only one who waited in line this time. All four of my friends got to be de-virginized/dazzled. I just love that glazed over look people get when they clear the line and say, "It's just his eyes...those blue eyes..."
Aw, to be dazzled...

Here are the lessons learned:
1. Jared + pomagranate mohawk = wonderful
2. TW-alking (Twitter stalking) pays off when you meet a celebrity. (How do you think I got my reluctant hug from Shannon? "Free hugs in Chicago")
3. Never listen to venue employees who tell you you must have merch to be in the meet & greet line. (They're just trying to weed out the non-believers!)
4. Always take a 30STM virgin with you so you can relive the bliss of first Leto dazzlement. (Lauren was totally dazzled!)
5. Avoid shirtless, tattooed D-bags and their bleach blond hoesbeast girlfriends when making your way to the coveted front row where Jared can hit you with his water bottle.
6. 30 SECONDS TO MARS MAKES WAR ROCK-TASTIC!!!

Enjoy the pics and vids.

Jared making us all witness to this Tweet:

"Wut up bitches u wish u were here!!!" From the crowd in deeeetroit http://tweetphoto.com/18899457

Sorry the audio is scratchy. I think I was too close and the massive speakers blew out my tiny camera recorder.

It was truly a glorious gathering of MARS soldiers!

"The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" will be available for free on June 7th!!!

I stumbled across a wicked cool bit of info at StephenieMeyer.com today. Her new novella The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner will be available for free, yes, I said FREE!, on June 7th! This is why we TW-ove our oh so generous leader. Check out the dets below.

Message from StephenieMeyer.com:
There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the Guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift. My publisher was awesome and embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th, it will also be available online at www.breetanner.com.

The full story on how Bree's story came to life is posted on StephenieMeyer.com. Click the link to order a hard copy of The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella for a mere $8!

Taylor's a Michigan fan!

Let's get one thing straight, this post has absolutely nothing to do with anything except the fact that I live in Ann Arbor, MI, where the University of Michigan is, and I get all TW-iddy whenever I see stars sportin' U of M gear. (Taylor Lautner's wearing a U of M hat in the picture below.) Boy's from Grand Rapids, MI--still representin'!

Added bonus, Tay's muscles are really workin' hard in that t-shirt.

New 'New Moon' & 'Eclipse' calendars

I was at Borders last night (like I am every Wednesday for my writer's crit group) and saw a brand spankin' new New Moon calendar that far surpasses any previous versions. First off, we get to pick between a Jacob and Edward cover. They're definitely starting us early with having to pick teams!

Secondly, the photos are screencaps from the movie with quotes like "I'm sorry I can't be the right kind of monster for you, Bella" & "La tua cantante." (I was super TW-excited to see that Italian insider quote.) You can see how they used quotes on the Jacob cover.

Click here to purchase the NM calendar.

Another TW-oodie today is a preview of the not yet available Eclipse calendar. It's the typical individual character headshot for each month format we've seen from the previous movies, but still cool to see our new Victoria (We miss you Rachelle!) and everyone else lookin' ripe for battle.
